A pillow from Budapest and a peek.......

It is hot here and windy so I haven't been outside much....It is almost too hot to be upstairs creating or sewing even with the a.c....I still love that it is summer though...I just do more at night and that works just fine...
Today is my happy little Olivia's birthday...She is nine years old. It makes me want to cry...I see her turning into a young lady and it makes me sad. She had a special day with her mom today. They went and saw Eclipse and her mom got her a phone....I don't know what I really think about the phone thing, but it is not my call anymore...We are having a party for her on Friday....

Happy Birthday Miss Pea!

I took part in Jamie's pillow cover swap and two days ago I got a package in the mail from Hungary....Katie cross stitched this wonderful bear pillow for me...I always admire handwork, cause' I have no patience for it all....Thank you so much Katie for all your work and thought that you put into this for me.......

For the last couple of days I have been working on a swap project off and on...It is turning into something, but that part is a secret....here is a little peek....

and here is a little close up peek....all the details are free motion embroidery...If you click you can really see it.....

In the next few days I have vowed to get my red, white and blue blocks done , pieced together and quilted in time for the fourth of July...I wonder if the kids will cooperate...It make take a good bribe...mmmmmmmm

Congrats with Olivia's nineth birthday!
I haven't done any crafting, its too hot and I don't have inspiration somehow....
Besides that,I have to spend so much time by the swimmingpool in the village,as my little girl is a real waterlover. She is too young to go on her own,so spend my weekends and afternoons there.
It will get better when she gets older and can swim.Your tags probably will be done after summer.....

Awwww....I'm just stuck on the turning 9 thing. Our oldest just turned 8 and it was tough. Hugs from one Grandma to another.

Melinda, I know where you're coming from on the phone front, my daughter is a tender 10 and already kids in her class are in chatrooms! just hideous, makes you wonder where it'll all end.
Love your pillow, what a great gift! and the mermaid stitchery is divine, colours are fab! Mx

Melinda - I love your free motion embroidery work, WOW:) Very cool! It is hot upstairs where I work also, need some AC up there:) It is hard to watch the children grow up, my nephew is turning 19 and just got accepted to the OSU Nursing Program...I remember when he was a baby, time goes so fast:) Have a great holiday! Happy belated birthday to your granddaughter. By now, her birthday party is probably over. I'm so late, but like you, have been fighting the heat. Even worse here. I could only wish for temps as low as 90F. And it's still hot at night, too. Trying to make art in this heat is a real chore, and like you, I'm working mostly at night.

Be sure to pick the last of your lettuce before it "bolts" and gets too bitter to eat.

Thanks for your comment on my sewing. Believe me, I did a lousy job of sewing the covers, but I got them done and in the mail. The recipients don't seem to mind that I made probably 100 mistakes on each of them. I'm grateful that you had so much faith in me. Sure wish I could take a few lessons from you (grin).

I really am amazed at your free motion stitching. I would love to be able to do that. It looks like fun and a bit complicated, too.

Happy Birthday Miss Olivia!! They sure do grow up fast.

The weather here has been hot and humid as usual. It's a bit weird in the summer time here in Florida. The kids do not go out and play very much in the summer. It's just too hot for them. They only play outside if there is a pool or some kind of water fun. Too easy for everyone to get heat stroke.

The pillow cover you received is wonderful. I too admire people who can do such detailed hand work. Your free motion embroidery is beautiful. Love the seaside theme. Good luck with the quilting.
