Happy Mothers Day all!

Mother's Day is always bittersweet for me...Instead of thinking about my children and how they are going to celebrate me being their mom, I think all day about my own mom and how much I miss her....Especially this year, being so far away from everyone.

Our last Mother's day we went to Home Depot and bought pink rose bushes. Until this move, I have moved the roses every place I have lived. So today, I went and bought a new one and I thought of her and all the things she did that made her uniquely her. The way she would snort when she laughed, her love of sappy movies and how she would call me at the end crying and mostly just how she loved me..... The best feeling in the world!

Ironically, yesterday in Salt Lake City they had the Susan B Kommen walk for the cure...I wish the cure would've come in time for my mom. 56 is way too young to lose a battle with breast cancer. I am grateful for the years that I had with her, but at times I also feel so ripped off to be fighting all my battles without my mom to console me and cheer me on. She was my biggest fan and my best friend. Life is lonlier without her. The world was a better place because of her....I love you mama, I think of you every day.....Mindy

I'll be thinking of you Melinda.
I wish I could say all the same about my mother....
She passed away last October, but it didn't make a difference to my life....I wish it was different. No roses here for my mom.Instead a picture of my ex-mom in law on my shelve, who I loved dearly.Unfortunately she passed away in 2009....
I know it is difficult to fight the battles on your own....

It is good you have very fond memories of your Mom.

My mom was taken in 1989 of the same disease. She did make it to age 64 (barely) but that was still too young and her last year of life was a horribly painful one. Your mom is still with you in spirit and in quiet moments, I'm sure you can discern what she would say to you about any given situation. Her heart surely still talks to your heart and tries to help heal its hurts. Hugs to you from me!

56 is definitely way too young to loose that battle. Hugs to you.

What a lovely tribute to your mom. Mom's are special people in our lives. I spent my last Mother's Day with my mom in 1982. She was in ICU and died a few days later.

We had a quiet Mother's Day here at home with my son, wife and two granddaughters. Our second son died in an accident the day before Mother's Day in 2007. It is truly a bittersweet day for me. Those granddaughters do cheer me up.

Hope your new rose bushes thrive and serve as a reminder of the specialness of your mom.

I'm so sorry Melinda, I think a lot of the strength you have you got from your mother. I feel she's with you at every event, cheering you on and speaking to your spirit. You're very special dear friend, you are in my prayers through all these life changes. God Bless.

I understand how you feel. My best friend has just about the same situation with losing her mother so young to a battle with breast cancer; she feels that way, too. My mother passed away young (69) but we weren't close like you and your mom were. Hugs. I hope you had a lovely Mother's Day after all. How's the unpacking going?

Same here my friend, you and I both share the same mother stories and love for our moms. I was blessed that my brother called me on Moms day the first time since I left home!
