birds, beans and a denim pillow.....

Tonight I am exhausted, but I wanted to post before I go to bed. It was a rough day around the ole' homestead. We are trying to get the trailer all done before Memorial day weekend and keep up with everything else and take care of the kids...I feel every minute, hour and day of my 48 years....The trailer is getting done, we are hoping to have the interior finished by tomorrow night but it is hard to get out there. Once the inside is done I will post before and afters and start the countdown to get the outside finished....Yesterday I went thrift store shopping and bought two vintage gingham sheets...One is going to be a quilt back and the other is going to be lining for the curtains. I almost have all the blocks done for the cowboy hankie quilt I showed a while back. It will be all ready to quilt by tomorrow. We also are putting a new tile floor in tomorrow and hanging curtain rods....I did finish a pillow tonight, just cause I wanted and needed to see something finished.....Here it is:

I used some denim squares that I got in the enchanted swap from one of my partners...I didnt use a pattern, just made it up as I went along....I sewed the right sides together and then made cuts in the seam allowances...when I washed it, I got the old frayed look....When I was at the thrift store, I bought pillows to recover so I washed them all and they are ready to cover. I think pillows really add to a space.
I also took Andrew in the backyard to play and he wanted to work in the garden so we planted some green beans....He is just loving the whole garden thing. I got him a kids rake and shovel at Loews and he works right along side me....His purple potatoes came up and he is monitoring their progress everytime he goes outside. He comes in and gives me the details. The lettuce seedlings just arent taking off, but they arent dying either...He prayed for them today. I get such a kick out of him.
Remember the pop bottle that I sent last week? Well, it got to the recipient and I thought I would show the bird ornaments I made her....
The first one is from a plastic gourd that I painted and turned into a bird. Don Named it the buttberry bird...Can you see why?

Then I sewed a little birdhouse with a bird roosting.....

and last of all, a sweet little paper bird edged in red glitter.....

I took the pictures of them hanging on our apple tree which is in full bloom....Isnt spring grand?

Your day sounds rather full. I hope you got some rest. Sounds like you are going to need it today. I'm anxious to see the inside of the trailer, as well as the finished project. I can't believe it will soon be Memorial Day, when just a few weeks ago it was snowing.

Sorry to hear about the lettuce. It is a good sign that it is not dying, but mine is almost ready for harvest. However, it was not the snow that stunted the lettuce's growth. Mine seems to grow every time we get rain. Maybe yours will perk up after Andrew's prayer.

Got a kick out of the gourd. Yep, I see how the bird got its name.

Holy Aunt Jemima Syrup girl. You are busy. I love the diversity of your crafty mind....every which way and all lovely.

Happy Sunday.

PS I know the syrup comment was weird but I was hoping it would get rid of my craving for it while I'm sitting here eating greek yogurt topped with gluten-free granola. Pancakes sound wicked good this morning.

Your just a force of creativity. Love the pillows, I have some jean legs I was moving, I mean looking at wondering what to do with, maybe I'll do something like that. Can't wait to see the pictures of the trailer and the cowboy hankie quilt.
